Collie) I felt that I couldn't face comparing another collie to him so
decided that a GSD would be my next working dog. She was meant to be
because the day I phoned our good friends Graham and Norma Bice who
breed GSD's they told me that they had mated a bitch that day. 9 weeks
later Jazz was born. Mum and Dad were both from German lines and Dad
was a UK Show Champion. I started training Jazz towards competing in working trials but due to a job change I didn't have the time needed to continue with her training. When Jazz was about 3 years old Vicky decided that she wanted to become involved with dogs and joined the Young Kennel Club. As a result of attending a summer camp with the YKC she discovered obedience agility and breed handling. Vicky and Jazz have a very strong bond which still remains even though Jazz is now a retired old lady. Vicky trained Jazz up to her Gold Good Citizen and was a member of the Gold Display team at Discover Dogs 2003. In 2004 Jazz and Vicky won the Starters Obedience at the YKC finals at Crufts, they were also 2nd in the Biathlon and 4th in the Triathlon (which involved breed handling, obedience and agility). ![]() Jazz is now 12 years old and still going strong. She is not as mobile as she was, but still loves her walks with the others (as long as you don't expect her to run through thistles). Jazz is still the head of the pack and they treat her with the respect her age deserves. If she is not out for a walk then you will find her minding her own business, sound asleep on an armchair. Jazz is an excellent ambassador for her breed as a qualified PAT dog. She is a very sociable girl who loves everyone and everything. EXCEPT for cats !!! We had quite a scare with Jazz in March this year.... One evening we noticed she was very uncomfortable and appeared in pain. We correctly diagnosed a gastric torsion and rushed her to the emergency vet. She was operated on and they managed to turn the stomach back to the correct position. Jazz was very very poorly for a few weeks but her fighting spirit has seen her through. She is now back to her old self and out for walks with the rest of our pack. Just as a word of caution to those thinking about not insuring their dog This operation cost £4500 !!!!!!!
